About Me

In previous careers, I’ve worked in the public, not-for-profit, and commercial sectors, mostly in IT and knowledge management, but also program and project management. I was supposed to become a German scholar, so my training is in German language, literature, and philosophy (under the rubric of what the Germans call Germanistik). That worked for a while, but in the end I went in a different direction, and have been interested in the application of computing resources and techniques in the humanities ever since. Some times I’ve even made a living doing it, mostly in the academy. I retired at 69, now into other activities, especially weaving and fiber arts.

What you’ll mostly see here now is related to that kind of activity which will become more of a focus on this site in 2023.

You can find some other tidbits about me here (updated in June 2025) and my LinkedIn profile here.
